Well, this is awkward. You see, I read somewhere that it’s a good exercise to write to yourself and tell your human how they’re doing. You’re doing OK, I think. You haven’t fallen down a hole in years… Oh, wait! That was a once off thing though, and it taught you patience… something I know you’re not good at.
Well done on the yoga thing you were dreaming about, you did it! Now, keep that dream and make sure that you don’t let anyone tell you ‘it’s already been done’ or ‘it’s not sustainable’. Have they tried it? Didn’t think so.
You haven’t been in your dark place for a while now and you’ve barely noticed that. I know you feel grateful, you feel happy in this new area of peace and you often take moments to enjoy the freedom. I must congratulate you on the upkeep of your journal even if it’s rather dull with no juicy gossip or naughty stories; it’s your thoughts and it’s good to get them out.
How’s your little blog doing? I heard it’s taken you to beautiful places and it still brings you joy, although, you really should post more! Not beating you up about it – just an observation! People ask you for more posts and you want to write them… maybe work them into your week more? Make more time for your passion? Your mat will forgive you for switching up your happy space from time to time!
It’s been 11 years since you were first diagnosed with depression and it’s been the hardest thing you’ve ever been through but you did it. Not only that, you put yourself out there and told your story – I know how hard that was for you. Just understand two things:
- It’s impossible to be perfect so stop being so hard on yourself – tell yourself how proud you are of YOU at least once a day.
- It’s OK to be passionate/emotional/grumpy/happy/hysterical from time to time. Feel what you’re feeling.
To The World On World Mental Health Day,
You are beautiful. You will get through this. You will feel the love you deserve. You will wake up one day without the fog. You will wake up one day with a smile on your face.
This is your journey – make it your journey. The ways of someone else aren’t your ways. Be your own inspiration.
